What Is Paint Protection Film?
Paint protection film (PPF) is a clear thermoplastic urethane film professionally installed over your vehicle's factory paint. Unlike vinyl wraps which are vinyl-based and color the surface, PPF is urethane-based and clear. It sits invisibly over the paint and absorbs rock chips, scratches, road debris, and UV without changing how the vehicle looks. Premium PPF is self-healing — minor surface scratches disappear when exposed to heat (sunlight, hot water). PPF is the gold standard in automotive paint protection, used by OEM manufacturers and exotic car owners worldwide.
PPF Coverage Options
- Bumper-only PPF ($600–$1,000): Lowest-cost option. Protects the front bumper, the highest rock-chip-risk panel.
- Partial-front PPF ($1,000–$1,500): Bumper + partial hood + partial fenders + mirrors. The most popular PPF coverage in our shop.
- Full-front PPF ($1,500–$2,500): Full hood + full fenders + bumper + mirrors + A-pillars + headlight protection. Best protection without going full-body.
- Track package PPF ($2,500–$4,000): Full front + rocker panels + behind rear wheels + door cups. For performance vehicles or owners who drive track days.
- Full-body PPF ($5,000–$10,000): Complete vehicle PPF coverage. For exotics and high-value collector vehicles.

PPF vs. Ceramic Coating vs. Vinyl Wrap
Three different products for three different goals. PPF physically absorbs rock chips and scratches. It's invisible and 7–10 year lifespan. Ceramic coating creates a hydrophobic, glossy, scratch-resistant chemical layer on paint. It does NOT stop rock chips. 2–5 year lifespan. Vinyl wrap changes the color of the vehicle while providing some abrasion protection. 5–7 year lifespan. The best strategy on a high-value vehicle is often layering: PPF on the front end for impact protection, ceramic coating over the entire vehicle for surface hardness and hydrophobicity.
PPF Process
1. Decontamination
PPF requires obsessive surface prep. We hand-wash, clay-bar, iron-decontaminate, and IPA-wipe every panel before installing. Any contamination trapped under PPF becomes a permanent visual defect.
2. Computer-Cut Patterns
Every PPF install uses pre-cut patterns from our software library cut on a CNC plotter. Razor blades never touch your factory paint. This is non-negotiable — hand-cutting PPF on painted panels is how amateurs scratch paint they're paid to protect.
3. Climate-Controlled Application
PPF adhesion requires temperature and humidity in a narrow window. Our climate-controlled Edmond bay holds the right environment year-round. PPF installed in uncontrolled garages develops edge lifting and air bubbles within months.
4. Heat-Cure and Final Inspection
Every PPF panel is heat-cured to lock the adhesive. Final panel-by-panel inspection before handoff.

FAQ
Paint Protection Film (PPF) FAQ
How much is PPF in Oklahoma City?
Bumper-only PPF starts at $600. Partial-front (bumper + partial hood + mirrors) is $1,200+. Full-front (full hood + fenders + bumper + mirrors + A-pillars) runs $1,800+. Full-body PPF starts at $5,000.
Does PPF damage paint when removed?
No. Properly installed PPF removes cleanly without paint damage when removed by a professional. Many of our clients are on their second or third PPF install on the same vehicle.
How long does PPF last?
Premium cast PPF is rated 7–10 years in Oklahoma's climate. Many installs last 10+ years with proper maintenance.
Is PPF worth it?
On any vehicle over $40,000, almost always yes. The cost of a partial-front PPF ($1,200) is roughly the same as a single bumper paint repair after rock chip damage. PPF prevents the damage entirely.
Can I install PPF over a wrapped vehicle?
Yes. Many clients wrap their vehicle in a color (satin black, for example) and then install PPF over the wrap on the front end. The PPF protects the wrap and the wrap protects the paint. Belt-and-suspenders protection.
