What Is Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to your vehicle's surface, creating a transparent layer of hardened silica (SiO2). Once cured, ceramic coating delivers three big advantages: hydrophobicity (water beads up and rolls off, taking dirt with it), UV resistance (slows paint oxidation under Oklahoma's intense summer sun), and increased surface hardness (rated up to 9H on the Mohs hardness scale, harder than most road debris). Ceramic coating does NOT prevent rock chips — that's what PPF is for. But it dramatically improves the look and longevity of paint, PPF, and vinyl wraps.

Ceramic Coating Tiers

  • Entry-level ceramic ($700–$900): Single-layer professional ceramic. 2–3 year lifespan. Good for daily drivers and budget-conscious clients.
  • Premium ceramic ($1,200–$1,800): Multi-layer ceramic from Gtechniq, CQuartz, or Ceramic Pro. 4–5 year lifespan. The sweet spot for most clients.
  • Ultra-premium ceramic ($2,000–$3,500): Top-tier products like Ceramic Pro 9H or Gyeon Quartz. 5–7 year lifespan. For exotics and collector vehicles.
  • Wrap-specific ceramic ($600–$1,200): Specially formulated ceramic for vinyl wrap surfaces. Extends wrap life and improves cleaning.

Paint Correction Before Ceramic

Ceramic coating bonds to whatever surface it's applied over. If your paint has swirl marks, oxidation, or light scratches from a brush car wash, the ceramic will lock those imperfections in for 3–5 years. That's why we include paint correction with every ceramic install. A 1–2 stage machine polish removes surface defects before the ceramic goes on. The result: ceramic over freshly corrected paint that looks better than the day the vehicle left the factory.

Ceramic Maintenance

Ceramic-coated vehicles wash easier and stay cleaner longer. Hand-wash with pH-neutral ceramic-safe soap, dry with microfiber. Water beads up and rolls off, taking road grime with it. Bird droppings, tree sap, and bug residue release cleanly with quick detailer spray. Most clients report they wash a ceramic-coated vehicle 30–40% less frequently because dirt doesn't stick the way it does to bare paint.

Why Choose Us

Why Oklahoma City Trusts Us

9H Hardness

Harder Than Road Debris

Ceramic coating cures to 9H on the Mohs hardness scale, harder than most road debris and minor abrasion. It doesn't stop rock chips (that's PPF), but it resists wash-induced swirls and light scratching.

Hydrophobic

Water Beads & Rolls

Ceramic-coated surfaces shed water aggressively. Water beads up and rolls off, taking dirt and contaminants with it. Vehicles wash easier and stay cleaner longer.

3-7 Year

Long-Lasting Protection

Premium ceramic coatings last 3–7 years depending on tier. We're authorized installers for Gtechniq, CQuartz, and Ceramic Pro — the top three professional ceramic brands.

FAQ

Ceramic Coating FAQ

Does ceramic coating prevent rock chips?add

No. Ceramic coating is a chemical hardness layer, not impact protection. For rock chip protection, you need paint protection film (PPF). Many clients install both: PPF on the front, ceramic over everything.

How long does ceramic coating last?add

Entry-level ceramic lasts 2–3 years. Premium multi-layer ceramic lasts 4–5 years. Ultra-premium top-tier ceramic lasts 5–7 years.

Can I apply ceramic over a vinyl wrap?add

Yes. We use wrap-specific ceramic coatings that extend wrap life, improve cleaning, and increase the gloss/satin/matte finish depth.

Does ceramic require paint correction first?add

Almost always yes. Ceramic coating bonds to whatever it's applied over, so any swirl marks or oxidation are locked in. We include paint correction with every install.

Can I apply ceramic at home?add

DIY ceramic kits exist but they're significantly less durable than professional-grade ceramic. The difference is 6–12 month DIY vs. 3–7 year professional. Worth the price difference on any vehicle you care about.
